happy easter...

(pattern for bunny found here)

Happy Easter.
I made a bunch of these and mailed them to some friends and family.
Isn't he cute?

knitting injury...

Knitting injury?
Seriously?
The excruciating pain in my upper back is a result of knitting?
Is that even possible?
I mean really, does an activity that requires less energy even exist?
I'm going to guess no.
I think maybe my muscles are telling me to get off the damn couch and do some exercise.
Stupid muscles, you suck.
So I went for a massage today to try to loosen things up.
Didn't work.
Took a hot bath.
Didn't work.
Had apple crisp and ice cream for lunch.
That didn't even work.
I feel old.
And somewhat pathetic.
Woe is me.

sneak peek...

I've been working on some new products for the shop.
I'm really happy with how they've turned out.
I tried to take some photos today but my house isn't big enough to get good vantage points.
So I have to wait for my husband to help me move some furniture around tonight.
Then hopefully I can get some good shots tomorrow...if the weather cooperates.
In the meantime, here's a sneak peek.
I don't think it'll take much imagination to figure out what you're looking at.
What do you think?

website coming...

I'm getting closer.
I had a photo shoot on Tuesday with the wonderfully talented Vanessa.
It was freezing.
Literally.
-6 Celsius (21F).
Luckily I had some warm and cozy cowls to wear!
I couldn't stop shaking on the drive home.
Vanessa was great.
Super friendly and easy to chat with.
And she knew exactly what I was looking for.
And from what I can tell, I'm going to be very happy with the shots.
What do you think?

That's the Cannery Cowl in black and cream.
It's made with the absolute softest Alpaca.
It's just one of the styles that'll be available.
Once I get all the photos, I'll be ready to launch my Etsy shop.

On a side, but related note: I used to babysit Vanessa.
And that makes me feel really old.

practicing...

They're practicing for their big photoshoot tomorrow.
It's going to be cold.
Like -2 degrees as a high cold.
But they're excited.

new tool...

It was my birthday last month.
This was on my wish list.
And thanks to my family, I now have one.
Using it makes me feel very professional.
It now only takes about 30 seconds to wind a ball of yarn.
Fantastic.

my first order...

I shipped out my first order today.
To the lovely Karen.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have a label on it.
I can NOT find labels I like.
It really shouldn't be this difficult.
Yes I am super picky.
But still.
Anyway...the point is...I shipped my first order today!
Yay!

9.13.2010

sneak peek...

I had a photo shoot on Saturday.
With the fabulous Sarah MacNeill of koo&poppet.
We met about 3 years ago at work.
Unfortunately, not long after that she moved to Victoria.
Sucky.
For me.
Regardless, we managed to stay in touch.
And when I needed someone to photograph my knitting, I immediately thought of her.
(you'll see more of her beautiful photography on her blog)
So I took the ferry over on Saturday.
We shot like crazy people trying to beat the fast-approaching weather.
And we finished just in time...well almost.
We did get a little wet.
Here's a sneak peek.

9.08.2010

knit knit knit knit...

I'm knitting like a crazy person.
Trying to get ready for a photo shoot.
In order to get ready for a craft fair in December.
I haven't even submitted my application to the fair as I need to include photos of my stuff.
I can't include photos until I've had the photo shoot.
Can't have the photo shoot until I've knit enough stuff.
Hence, knit knit knit knit.
The shoot is supposed to be this weekend but according to the forecast it's going to rain.
Crap.
This could be disastrous.
If it doesn't happen this weekend, it has to wait until 2 weekends from now.
Which only gives me a week to submit before the deadline.
And what if it's raining that weekend???
Ahh.
Whoever thought knitting would be stressful?

1.18.2010

knit, knit, knit...

I bought a really great knitting book the other day.
400 different stitch patterns.
How will I ever choose which to try first?

1.08.2010

knitting machine...

How cute are my new fingerless gloves?
I knit my sisters and my sister-in-law each a pair for Christmas.
And then I decided I needed my own pair.
They seemed to take forever.
That 'cell' pattern is not easy. (thanks jessica)
But I think it was worth it.
So cute!
